Working with Faults

You can use faults to train personnel to identify problems and to perform preventive and corrective maintenance on tools and equipment. LEAD supports three standard types of faults as sub-categories of tools/equipment resources:

Fault - PFM, or Prefaulted Modules (PFMs): Faulted modules designed to be inserted into a piece of equipment at specific locations to cause errors.

Fault - FID, or Fault Insertion Devices (FIDs): Pieces of equipment (jumper cables, extender modules, faulty fuses, etc.) that are used to simulate faults.

Fault - Controlled, or Controlled Faults: Procedures to simulate a fault that do not require a PFM, FID, or other equipment.

Once you've created faults, you can cite or use them in a sub-element in your IG. To help the instructor, make sure you identify the tool or piece of equipment that is supposed to be faulted, along with any supporting documentation for the fault, including the procedures the participants should follow to clear the fault.

Just like other tools or equipment resources, you can create, view, and edit faults on the Tool or Piece of Equipment Detail screen.
